HIGHBRIDGE singer Gypsy Watkins has announced her candidacy to become the town’s MP at the General Election this May.
Gypsy, who is well known in the Highbridge and Burnham area for her talents as a singer, says she wants to be the voice of local people and “bring a breath of fresh air” to the campaign by offering voters an alternative to traditional party politics.
She says she will stand as an independent Parliamentary candidate for the Wells constituency in the election on May 7.
The General Election will see incumbent Liberal Democrat MP Tessa Munt defending her seat against the Conservative’s James Heappey, Labour’s Chris Inchley, UKIP’s Jeffrey Bolter and the Green Party’s Jon Cousins.
