IN the final game of the season, Burnham and Berrow entertained Mendip Spring in Division Three of the Avalon League. Before the game, Burnham were in a strong position, six points ahead of Worlebury, but they had to win at home. They ran out comfortable winners by four and a half to a half, gaining 10.5 points and ensuring promotion. Captain Neil Darby and the team can now look forward to next season in Division Two.

BURNHAM and Berrow Seniors took on Farrington at Wedmore Golf Club on Friday in the semi-final of the Somerset Seniors Bowl. They ran out winners by three and a half to one and a half and now face Clevedon in the final. The winning pairs were Robin Griffiths and Graham Gregg, David Lloyd and Steve Cartwright and Gordon Mackay and Nich Agar. John Pascall and Dr Harvey Sampson got the half and Peter Amos and Alex Kidd lost by just one hole. The venue for the final is yet to be decided.

JONATHAN Pitcher led the way as Burnham and Berrow members played for one of the oldest trophies in the Club history - the Kennard Cup.

Pitcher, off scratch, recorded a gross 71 to lead the field while second place went to Gareth Rees (gross 76, nett 72), followed by Justin Lane (gross 75, nett 73). The playing conditions were extremely difficult at times, with heavy rain showers, and this reflected in the standard scratch of 76 (par71).
