LOCAL businesses have been encouraged to donate items for an interval auction to take place at a Burnham concert about the county's history.
Folk singer Timothy Dean will perform his Songs of Somerset show at The Princess Theatre in Burnham next month.
It promises to be an enjoyable evening of songs and stories research and written by Timothy, a Brent Knoll singer-songwriter.
A local auctioneer is also being sought to sell donated items during the internal, with all proceeds set to help the Somerset Crisis Fund.
The crisis fund helps local agents work with people who find themselves in challenging situations, including living without food, heating, or other basic essentials.
It allows the agents to access funds to pay for things vulnerable people need to get them out of crisis and make an instant improvement to their lives.
David Sturgess, one of the event's organisers, said: “Tickets are already selling well to people interested in hearing Timothy Dean’s brilliantly researched, written, and performed songs and stories.
“But we are worried about those in our county who will struggle with the horrific increase in food, fuel, and energy costs.
“We want this unique event to be an opportunity to help those hard-hit neighbours.”
Local businesses have been asked to donate items for the interval auction, such as restaurant meals, holidays, garden items, beauty treatments, or a car fill-up.
Businesses offering lots for auction – and auctioneers willing to conduct the sale - should email David Sturgess: david.sturgess@tiscali.co.uk
Songs of Somerset will be held at The Princess Theatre in Burnham-on-Sea at 7.30pm on Wednesday, September 21.
Tickets are available for £13 from The Princess Theatre's website (www.theprincesstheatre.co.uk/events/songs-of-somerset/).
