TWO lucky readers have won tickets to an upcoming show featuring songs and stories about Somerset's fascinating past.
Roger Besley and Rita Hopkins have each won a pair of tickets to the special concert, which will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at The Princess Theatre.
Timothy Dean, a Burnham-based folk singer-songwriter, will present his programme of songs and stories from his research into the county's history, myths, and legends.
Rita, who lives in Brent Knoll, had her tickets delivered by Timothy himself, who works as the village's postman.
The Burnham & Highbridge Weekly News is the official media partner of the Songs of Somerset concert.
The show will raise money for the Somerset Crisis Fund, a charity that enables a network of village agents support people struggling to afford essentials.
All profits from the event will be donated to the crisis fund, plus there will be an auction in the interval to boost proceeds.
David Sturgess, who is organising the concert, said: “With the cost of living crisis now looming like a tsunami, we know that many people will be hit very hard by spiraling costs of energy, food, and fuel.
“Residents of Somerset’s rural areas can be especially hard hit, so Timothy Dean was keen for his concert to be a way of providing some practical help.”
Tickets for the 200-seat venue are selling well. The concert will begin at 7.30pm.
