BURNHAM-ON-SEA Rotary Club raised £1,700 for local charities at its first-ever folk night at Ritz Social Club on Friday, September 16.
The evening showcased Irish folk singer and songwriter John Lynch, who had travelled from Dublin with Larry Hogan.
The support act was the Fiddlie Diddlies, a local group.
The evening had four main sponsors: Dulhorn Farm Holiday Park, Ashley Edwards Funeral Directors, Space Storage, and James Lynch Electrical Services.
Other local companies supported the raffle, including The Burnham and Berrow Golf Club, Tesco, Sanders Garden Centre, Westcroft Farm, and Sassy Sarah.
A spokesperson for the rotary club said: “Burnham-on-sea Rotary Club presented its first folk night by kind permission of the Ritz Social Club with over 100 people attending.
“The evening was a great success, raising over £1,700 for rotary charities.”
Every year, the rotary club raises thousands of pounds for local good causes and for the benefit of the community.
