A SOLD-OUT concert held in Burnham-on-Sea, featuring a local singer-songwriter, has raised more than £1,000 for the Somerset Crisis Fund.
Timothy Dean's Songs of Somerset gig was held on Wednesday, September 21 at The Princess Theatre to a packed crowd.
The event featured songs and stories from the county's past, gathered by Timothy through his research, and raised £1,186 for its crisis fund.
The fund enables village agents to help those struggling to cover their bills and other essential costs in the current cost-of-living crisis.
£30 came from residents of Brent Knoll, where Timothy works as the village postman.
The Weekly News was the media partner for Songs of Somerset, providing news coverage, advertising and a reader competition.
One lucky winner of two tickets to the concert lives in Brent Knoll and had her prize hand-delivered to her by Timothy himself.
Well known on the local circuit of folk music, Timothy has spent years in researching the many myths, legends, and stories of Somerset’s history.
He brought the fruits of that research to the stage at The Princess Theatre in Burnham of Sea, with a programme of songs and stories crafted by his skill as a songwriter.
