GLASTONBURY Festival founder Michael Eavis is to join the hoards in his trademark shorts at Puriton’s fifth Party in the Park on Saturday.
Alan Scott, co-organiser of the Puriton day festival, said: “Mr Eavis will be coming to open the evening slot, and see how we’ve turned his tents into bunting!”
With gates set to open at 2pm, visitors can expect a selection of stalls, games, and activities to get stuck into, while also admiring the “up-cycled” Glastonbury goods – abandoned tents, chairs, wellingtons and gazebos – the Puriton crew have made use of.
Alan said: “Preparations are all going really well, and it’s always a packed event. Every year we’ve raised roughly £2,500 for local groups, from the Women’s Institute to the school and pre-school, the church … anyone who helps us on the day will get something back.”
The long afternoon of music starts at 6pm, with cider-infused North Petherton band The Thatchers topping off the night as the headline act.
Entry is free, but all money raised on site will be channelled into the Puriton community.
Anyone willing to help on the day can get in touch with the Puriton in the Park can get in touch via their Facebook group.
