MANY of you will be fascinated by the recent plethora of family history and genealogy programmes, websites and magazines. I too have been pulled into the family history search and now need some help.
My great-grandfather and great-grandmother, moved to Bridgwater in 1897 from Puriton, living in Wylsborough Terrace. They had at least two children - James (my grandfather) and another son William.
John Day and Jane lived in Bridgwater until their deaths in 1957 (John Day) and 1954 (Jane). John was a merchant seaman, serving on the Champion and sailing from Bridgwater to Penarth in 1901 and then the Severn in 1909.
Other details of his sailing life are missing and searches in the PRO have turned nothing up.
If anyone knows anything of John or Jane - who I believe lived in the St John Parish, I would be grateful to know and can be contacted at the address below or my telephone number is 0117 9497169 and email noyce.mead@blueyonder,co.uk Pat Mead 32 Brynland Avenue Bristol BS7 9DT
