"ADDITIONAL resources" are being set up in Burnham by police to combat a continuing problem of underage drinking on the streets of the resort.
Less than a fortnight after the Weekly News revealed how officers were forced to confiscate 60 bottles of alcohol in just two days, the juvenile drinkers were at it again.
The force has pledged to crack down on the problem and on Friday (February 2) they made good their promise, swiftly dealing with two minor incidents.
Burnham sector deputy Inspector Roger Tolley said there had been a lot of people in town.
"On Friday night the PCSOs and officers made a further 12 seizures of alcohol. We are talking about people walking along the street with cans," he said.
"The message to the public is that we are aware of the situation. Additional resources are being set up to combat the situation as it happens.
"We are also talking to licensees and shopkeepers to make them aware of what is happening."
