A TALK bringing to life the wonders of the Somerset Wetlands is coming to Burnham this month (February) to coincide with the launch of a new book.

Dr Pat Hill-Cottingham, a member of the editorial board of The Somerset Wetlands, will open a short tour with her illustrated presentation at the town's library on Saturday (February 24) before touring to Wells, Langport and Taunton.

The expert is an authority on freshwater ecology and chairman of the Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society.

Dr Hill-Cottingham contributed to the book dedicated to the expanse of Somerset that includes in the landscape of Levels and Moors and settlements such as Glastonbury, Burrowbridge and Westonzoyland.

Councillor Justin Robinson, Somerset County Council's Portfolio Holder for Adult and Community Services, said: "The Somerset Wetlands is a very special area and these talks will be a delight for anyone with an interest in it.

"I'm glad the county council can help celebrate the communities of the Wetlands by producing this excellent book."
