CHILDREN at Brent Knoll primary school enjoyed taking part in a Healthy Living Week, last week.
They had a great time learning about healthy living and the importance of sleep, water, eating a balanced diet, hygiene and exercise.
Physical education staff from King Alfred School in Highbridge got the week off to an energetic start with an aerobics session for the junior children on Monday morning.
This was followed by literacy work, focusing on Goldilocks and the Three Bears, leading into a discussion about the importance of breakfast.
Another group of pupils enjoyed learning how to make smoothies with a variety of fruit.
And even the most reluctant vegetable eaters could not resist sampling a tasty vegetable curry, which was on the menu later in the week.
Parents were able to try samples of healthy meals during a visit from Somerset Catering Service.
On Wednesday, school nurse, Sue Tanner taught the younger children about the importance of hygiene and how to wash their hands properly.
Judith Morris from Sainsbury's visited on Friday, working with each class to prepare a delicious healthy salad bar for lunch, which then fed 122 children.
In the afternoon, children from class four helped prepare healthy lunchbox treats for parents to try.
See Wednesday's Weekly News for more pictures from this event.
