HARRODS and the Al Fayed Charitable Trust have put their hands into their pockets to assist a Highbridge-based group dedicated to helping blind children.
The two organisations are supporting the National Blind Children's Society for the second year running, together with NatWest for its third, for the charity's golf day on June 13.
Society spokesman Margaret McDowell said last year a request was sent to the trust for consideration.
"Staff were amazed when they received a pledge of a Harrods hamper. The hamper was crammed full of wonderful goodies, including Harrods mugs, heritage biscuits, jams, pickles and numerous Harrods products," she said.
"A member of the charity's staff contacted Harrods again asking for support at the 2007 Isle of Wedmore Golf Day and was very surprised to receive a pledge of another hamper.
"Al Fayed Charitable Trust contacted the charity with a further pledge and delivery will be made three days before the event.
"The hamper will become a valued auction lot, raising money for children who are visually impaired throughout the UK."
Golf teams are wanted for this event and there are sponsorship and advertising opportunities available. Ring Margaret McDowell on 01278-764753 for more details.
