FOLLOWING the business side of the meeting the speaker, Mr Tony Deahl, gave an illustrated talk on the RNLI. The statistics were very sobering as were the range of brave volunteers who are on watch to carry out sometimes very dangerous rescues in appalling conditions.
There was a lighter side when four mature members were invited to put on the gear, some of which turned out to be very smug in places. This provided those who declined the invitation with a good laugh at the others expense.
Next month, March, sees the celebration of East Huntspill WI's 70th anniversary as it was formed in 1937. Unfortunately there are no longer any founder members, but there are some who joined in the 1940s but are still very young at heart.
