KNIFE attacks in the police force area containing Burnham and Highbridge has risen since last year.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary have revealed this week that during 2006 there were 232 reported crimes of stabbing or injury from a blade.
This tally marks a rise compared to the figures for 2005, which show only 204 of the same offences in the area - an increase of 28.
The force stressed the number related to the amount of violent crimes where the victim had been injured by a knife by being cut or stabbed, or being stabbed by an unknown implement.
