A CHARITY Cabaret Showcase evening held in Burnham was deemed a success, after raising £1,625 for St Margaret's Somerset Hospice.
The evening, at Lakeside Caravan Park, was organised by Titch and Sue Williams, Lakeside's resident entertainment managers.
Some 160 guests were treated to a variety of performances, including comedy, magic, electronic violin music and song and a game of Irish bingo at the interval.
A group of St Margaret's shop staff and volunteers were lead in a lively performance of La Bamba, by local vocalist Claire, complete with sombreros and maracas.
It was the second event Mr Williams had organised to raise money for the hospice, after being moved by the level of support and care a close friend received from their specialist staff.
Proceeds from the evening were presented to community fundraiser, Sue Medlicott.
She said: "The success of this evening is a demonstration of the support and loyalty which the people of Burnham-on-Sea feel towards St Margaret's.
"It was wonderful to see so many volunteers and the prevailing happy atmosphere is a tremendous compliment to the organisational skills and determination of Titch and Sue."
