PREMIERSHIP footballers have given their backing to a Highbridge-based blind youngsters charity.
Players from the first team squads of Manchester United and Middlebrough have donated rare items for the upcoming National Blind Children's Society golf day and auction on June 13.
Fundraising and PR executive Margaret McDowell (pictured here with Julie Baker) told the Weekly News: "In November I received a reply from Sir Alex Ferguson and he sent a team signed football from Manchester United.
"One of our Telemarketing staff contacted Middlesborough Football Club, asking them to hold a Milly' Game. They could not help with that but they did send an autographed football. Both footballs will be included in the Golf Day auction."
The golf day is being held at the Isle of Wedmore Golf Club, for more details ring 01278-764764.
