A HIGHBRIDGE landmark may be set for demolition at the end of this year as plans have been submitted for it's destruction.
Highbridge Gospel Tabernacle Church on Newtown Road was subject to a demolition order from Sedgemoor District Council earlier this year and plans were submitted on December 22 for the iconic spot to be demolished.
Terence Rickard, owner of the church land, submitted the proposals with a view to start demolition works by the end of this year.
The news comes after Councillor John Parks spoke out in November this year after a demolition order had been set without public consultation.
It is proposed the demolition is done mostly by hand as the building is in a derelict state beyond repair.
There are no current plans for a proposed restoration of the site.
