I AM Susie Quatermass and I have lived in the Mendip area for the past 12 years.
During the first few years I was involved in community development work in the area in Burnham and Highbridge and across Somerset, working in marginalised communities to empower and encourage creative projects which support local people.
I live in Glastonbury where 100 years ago the suffragettes were protesting to gain the vote for women. I believe that we now have the opportunity to seed the future by voting for a totally different way of living in and with the world. It is my absolute pleasure to be the first candidate in an election for the MotherWorld party and to make a stand for the implementation of the following within the communities in the Wells constituency:
- Promoting the active participation of women in all aspects of economic, political, civil, social and cultural life as full and equal decision makers, leaders, partners and beneficiaries.
- Payment and support from central and local government resources to all mothers and carers in the constituency of a living wage that recognises the gifts that mothers, fathers and all carers now freely give not only to their children, but also to other members of their families and communities.
- Funding and support for local mothers collectives, sure start centres, natural birthing centres and mother-led initiatives which support family and community integration.
