WORKS are ongoing to build a new environmental building at Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre to provide better facilities for injured wildlife.

Last year Secret World Wildlife Rescue (SWWR) sold their front barn in order to raise enough money to start to build a purpose-built environmental building on their property on New Road, East Hunstpill.

The new building will house better facilities to care for the hundreds of wildlife casualties that come through the centres doors each year.

The coronavirus pandemic was ‘one of the most difficult years that the charity has encountered’ says Pauline Kidner, the charity’s founder but staff at SWWR have managed to work all the way through as an essential service.

The new building is expected to be finished by July this year but Pauline said the charity’s wildlife team will continue to try and help as many injured animals as they can while the work goes on.

“I am so proud of all that our dedicated staff and volunteers have achieved,” Pauline said.

“Supporters have helped us make this happen and we are all excited to go into 2021 with the base for the new build complete.

“Builders will be returning at the end of this month to at least build the first phase of the centre.

“We hope to have enough money to do phase 2 at the same time as this will be cheaper than doing them separately.”
