Forecasters say outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow will move westwards across the region on Saturday night (February 6).
They have also warned there could be between one and four centimetres of snow, mainly on the hills, at levels of above 200-300 metres.
The forecaster said as temperatures plummet ice will form on untreated surfaces, causing potential dangers on the roads.
The Met Office is warning people to expect some roads and rail services to be affected by the freezing conditions and people should expect longer journey times.
It is also warning there could be some injuries due to falls on icy surfaces and there will be icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
Travel Somerset said gritters will be out in Somerset tonight as ice could form on the county's roads due to the cold weather.
Cold temperatures expected over night with risk of ice. Our gritting crews will be out salting the network from 19:00. #SomersetGrit
