A MARIE Curie supporter unable to undertake street collection at present is instead raising funds for the charity through a walking challenge.
Gail Burt, from East Huntspill, is clocking up at least 10,000 steps a day throughout March in aid of the Great Daffodil Appeal, which helps pay for Marie Curie nurses.
As well as regularly beating her daily 10,000-step target, Gail, 68, has also raised more than £500 - she had originally expected to receive £100 in sponsorship.
She said: "I used to street collect for Marie Curie, but unfortunately at the moment that is not possible.
"When I heard about the Great Daffodil Appeal I knew this was something that I could do and enjoy.
"I chose to do the walking challenge, which is 10,000 steps every day in March.
"At 68, I thought, 'Can I really manage this?' But I have completely surprised myself. I often do many more.
"I am meeting so many lovely people and discovering local places that I never knew existed.
"I’ve also managed to raise money through Facebook and on the Just Giving site."
