BURNHAM-ON-SEA'S BASC Ground opened as a Covid-19 vaccination centre last Friday (March 19), delivering just short of 800 jabs over the weekend.
The BASC (Burnham Association of Sports Clubs) Ground is situated on Stoddens Road in the town, and the NHS vaccination centre is being overseen by team members from the Day Lewis Pharmacies in Burnham and Berrow, as well as volunteer helpers.
As well as operating last weekend, the vaccination centre will be open again this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (March 26-28), while the Mulberry Centre, in Berrow, is also being used for Covid vaccinations.
Sally Farmer, manager at Burnham's Day Lewis Pharmacy, told the Weekly News: "It went amazingly, to be honest, given that we had only had a week to set it up.
"It ran like clockwork, and we were really pleased.
"The huge car park [at BASC] was a big thing for us, as appointments are five minutes and we wanted to get people in and out as quickly as possible.
"The patient flow worked well, and there were no real queues."

Farmer added that people needed to book an appointment beforehand through the national booking service, and that those coming to the centre would be asked for a booking number as well as some other details.
"Some people hadn't pressed 'accept' when booking online, which was frustrating, so do make sure you finish your booking," she said.
After this coming weekend, the centre will pause its operation until May, due to the national shortage of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
