IT took more than two hours to rescue a person trapped inside a vehicle after a road traffic collision this morning (April 4).
After they were released, the casualty was taken to hospital via air ambulance.
Three fire engines from Cheddar, Winscombe and Burnham-on-Sea, as well as the heavy rescue unit and support appliance from Glastonbury attended the incident on West Street, Axbridge.
The vehicle hit a steel fence at around 2am.
"On arrival at the scene crew confirmed a single vehicle road traffic collision with one person trapped and got to work to release," a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.
"At 2.36am, the vehicle had been stabilised and crews were removing the side of the car and the roof.
"At 3.31am, space had been created and the roof had been removed.
"Crews were removing the interior surrounding the casualty to aid with extraction.
"At 4.42am, the casualty was extracted from a vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment, small tools and lighting and other specialist equipment from the rescue tender.
"The casualty was transported to hospital by air ambulance."
