UPDATE: All lanes are now open.
ONE lane is closed on the M5 after a crash involving "several" cars this afternoon (April 24).
The incident happened northbound by junction 22 (Burnham-on-Sea), and there is currently two lanes open past the scene.
Highways England are asking motorists to consider alternative routes.
"Please approach the scene with care and obey the signals set," said a spokesperson for Highways England.
"Due to the severity of the damage to the vehicle that has crashed into the barrier, we are unable to move the vehicle out of the live lane.
"We have been able to close just lane 3 for the incident so lane 1 and 2 are now open.
"Please take care on passing and many thanks for your patience."
