BURNHAM-ON-SEA’S Ritz Cinema has announced a line-up of five films which it will be screening upon its re-opening on Monday, May 17.
The cinema, which is located in Victoria Street, has been closed since December 2020 due to the latest Covid-19 lockdown.
From May 17, however, cinemas - as well as museums, theatres and other indoor entertainment venues - across England have been given the go-ahead to re-open, as part of another easing of lockdown restrictions.
Pubs and restaurants will be able to seat customers indoors again, while people can meet in groups of up to 30 outdoors, and up to six (or two households) indoors.
The Ritz will be showing Nomadland, which won Best Picture at this year's Oscars, as well as earning awards for its director Chloe Zhao and star Frances McDormand.
The other films to be screened are monster showdown Godzilla vs Kong, Mortal Kombat, family sequel Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway and horror movie Spiral.
The cinema has a new state-of-the-art laser projector, which cost £30,000 and replaced the old digital projector.
Owner Pat Scott said that this will allow the cinema to show films in the highest picture quality.
