FIRE crews rescued a person who had fallen into a rhyne during the early hours of this morning (May 8).
Two fire engines from Burnham-on-Sea and a water rescue team from Chippenham attended the incident at Unity Farm Caravan Park, Coast Road, Burnham-on-Sea.
The person was stuck waist deep in around 4ft of mud and water, situated 5ft below ground level.
"Police passed details of someone who had fallen into a water filled rhyne and was unable to self rescue," said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.
"Firefighters removed an area of hedge for access and rescued the person using a ladder lowered down the bank.
"The water rescue team was returned to station.
"Ambulance attended to check the casualty for injury."
