A YOUNG man has been charged with rape and sexual assault in separate incidents.
William Fernandez, 25, of no fixed address, is accused of committing the rape in Bristol on Wednesday (May 12).
He is also charged with a sexual assault the previous day in Weston-super-Mare.
Fernandez has been remanded in custody pending an appearance at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (May 19).
Both victims have been given access to specialist support services.
Fernandez, who was arrested by Avon and Somerset officers in Newport on Friday, has also been charged with assaulting an emergency worker following an incident in police custody.
