IT may be good to talk, but that’s not the case at East Huntspill-based Secret World Wildlife Rescue (SWWR) at the moment.
Openreach disconnected the charity’s phone lines when the front barn was taken over by the new owners, and they have been unable to connect to the portacabins that SWWR is working in while the new build is taking place.
Pauline Kidner, the charity’s founder, said: “It has been a bit of a nightmare. We have had to work with lines diverted to mobiles.
“Unfortunately, the mobiles don’t have a signal inside the portacabins, so receptionists have to go outside to take calls.
“We are reduced to one line only, so people are finding it difficult to get through.
“We suggest that people email reception@secretworld.org instead, but if the animal is badly injured, please take it to the nearest vet.”
Pauline added: "With so much building work going on, not only at the charity but also the neighbours, people are thinking we have closed.
"We’re still here! So please bear with us at this difficult time.
"We hope to have our telephones connected again in a couple of weeks."
