A WESTON-super-Mare care home run by the same family for 50 years has been to a new owner.
Earlfield Lodge comprises 65 bedrooms spread across four interconnecting period properties with purpose-built extensions.
Each property provides for different categories of care ranging from dementia care, residential care and residential and dementia care.
The home also has a chapel and a detached bungalow to the rear.
The business is located in 25-31 Trewartha Park and enjoys sea views.
Co-owner Carol Hinks said: "We were sad to say goodbye to Earlfield, which has been in the family since we were small children, but very glad that it is now in the hands of an experienced and dedicated provider who will carry forward the vision."
The home has been purchased by local operator Rizwan Govindji and is his second care home purchase through Christie & Co, the first being Tilsley House, in Weston-Super-Mare.
He said: “I am delighted to have completed on Earlfield Lodge, a home that has an incredible history and legacy over the past half a century under the care of the Butcher family.
"Our task as stakeholders is to continue to build on the history of Earlfield Lodge, and I will do everything I can to support in the endeavour to develop a 'cathedral of care' here, a place that serves the local community and which we can all be proud of."
