SIX drivers from the Burnham and Highbridge area have been fined by Bath Magistrates' Court for offences they committed on roads in Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
Five of the drivers pleaded guilty for speeding, and one was proved guilty of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle when required.
They were handed court bills ranging from £100 to £816, and they were handed either three or six penalty points.
Sue Chedzey
A woman has been handed a £100 court bill after exceeding a 30mph speed limit in Berrow Road, Burnham-on-Sea.
Sue Chedzey, of Wedmore Close, was caught driving at 36mph on the road on May 18, 2021.
Chedzey, 63, pleaded guilty under the single justice procedure on March 30.
She was fined £66 and told to pay a £34 surcharge to fund victim services.
No order was made for court costs.
Chedzey will pay her court bill in £20 montly instalments starting on May 18.
Court documents say her "guilty plea taken into account when imposing sentence".
Three penalty points were added to her driving licence.
Yasir Reda Afifi
An East Brent man has been fined and handed three penalty points after he pleaded guilty to breaking the speed limit on the M5.
Yasir Reda Afifi, of Old Bristol Road, was recorded travelling northbound at 80mph between junctions 17 and 16 of the M5 in South Gloucestershire.
He committed the offence on July 25, 2021.
Afifi, 35, was fined £307 and ordered to pay £90 in court costs and a £34 surcharge on March 29, giving him a total court bill of £431.
He will pay his first £100 monthly instalment on May 17.
His guilty plea was considered when he was sentenced.
Duncan James Maclean
Duncan James Maclean, of Bristol Road, Highbridge, has been fined £66 after he pleaded guilty to driving at 35mph on a road with a 30mph speed limit.
Maclean, 47, exceeded the speed limit on the A38 Taunton Road in Bridgwater on July 30, 2021.
Alongside his fine, he was also ordered to pay a £34 surcharge on March 29, giving him a total court bill of £100 to pay by May 17.
He was also handed three penalty points.
Jonathon Colin Dennis Frost
A man from Highbridge has been handed a £239 court bill and three penalty points after he exceeded a 30mph speed limit on the A38 Bristol Road in Rooksbridge.
Jonathon Colin Dennis Frost, of Old Pawlett Road, pleaded guilty after he was caught driving at 38mph on the road on July 31, 2021.
Frost, 41, was fined £115 and told to pay £90 in costs and a £34 surcharge on March 29.
He has until May 17 to pay a total of £239.
Jenni Antonia Rigby
Jenni Antonia Rigby, of Caxton Drive, Highbridge, was fined by a magistrate in Bath after she was proved guilty of failing "to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence".
Rigby, 45, committed the offence on September 2, 2021, and she was proved guilty under the single justice procedure on March 29.
She was fined £660 and ordered to pay £90 in costs and a £66 surcharge, giving her a total of £816 to pay by May 17.
Rigby was also handed six penalty points.
Dawid Mateusz Buciak
A man from Highbridge has been fined after he was clocked driving at 65mph on the A371 Axbridge Bypass - a road with a 40mph speed limit - on October 14, 2021.
Dawid Mateusz Buciak, of West Avenue, pleaded guilty under the single justice procedure on March 29 and was fined £80.
He was also told to pay £90 in court costs and a £34 surcharge, giving him a total court bill of £204, which he will pay in monthly instalments of £20 from May 17.
He had six penalty points added to his licence.
