A BOMB disposal team was called to a property in Highbridge yesterday (Thursday, April 28) after a “suspected old military ordnance” was found in its garden by a contractor.
The suspected ordnance (military supply equipment that could include weapons or ammunition) was reported to the police yesterday afternoon.
Upon arrival, an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team found the item was not dangerous.
A cordon was put in place as a precaution while the police presence was at the scene, and the officers resumed normal duties in the evening.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Police were called after suspected old military ordnance was found by a contractor in the garden of a property in Grange Avenue, Highbridge on Thursday 28 April.
“The find was reported to police just before 2.10pm and a cordon was put in place as a precaution.
“The explosive ordnance disposal team was called and established the item was not explosive and did not pose any danger.
“Officers resumed patrols at about 6.40pm.”
