A LOCAL rescue centre has hosted a pop-up shop to raise money to help it look after the animals in its care.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' (RSPCA) North Somerset branch in Brent Knoll hosted a variety of stalls on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31.
The items on offer included children's toys and games, classic CDs and DVDs, books, and kitchenware.
The free-to-attend sale also featured freshly made cakes and other refreshments and raised over £700 on Saturday alone.
A spokesperson said: “We were delighted to see so many new and familiar faces (human and canine!).”
They also thanked everyone who visited and “all the amazing volunteers”, adding: “It’s hard work and we wouldn’t be able to do it without them.”
The RSPCA opened its North Somerset branch in 2006 with a cattery able to accommodate up to 44 cats.
It has since expanded and now boasts three kennel blocks that can host 63 dogs, new cattery facilities, and a wind turbine that cut its electricity bills by around 50 per cent.
The centre aims to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals facing challenging circumstances, including cruelty and neglect.
It also cares for animals that can no longer be cared for by their owners and stray animals reported by local authorities.
