A PARKINSON'S charity's Burnham-on-Sea group has appealed for volunteers to help support people living with the disease.
Parkinson's UK runs monthly drop-in sessions for people with the disease and their loved ones in the local area.
The group only exists to provide this support because of its volunteers.
It has two roles that urgently need filling: Finance contact and support for the group's coordinator.
They are both flexible roles that would require a few hours a month and will help ensure people with Parkinson's can access activities that make a difference to their lives.
Mary Jane Hunter, network support officer at Parkinson's UK, said: “The Burnham-on-Sea Support Group is a lifeline for people in the local area who are living with Parkinson’s, but unless new volunteers step forward people could be left without the support they need.
“If you can spare a few hours a month we’d love to welcome you to volunteer alongside the amazing people who are part of Burnham on Sea group - because with your support we really can change lives.”
Around 145,000 people in the UK live with a Parkinson's diagnosis.
There are approximately 365 Parkinson's UK local groups run by volunteers who are trained and supported by the charity's staff.
The Burnham group meets on the second Monday of the month (except January and August) at the Catholic Church on Highbridge Road.
