UPGRADES to a school in Somerset has seen £1 million spent every year on improving facilities since 2018.
More than £4 million has been spent enhancing facilities, creating expansions and additional buildings at The King Alfred School Academy in Highbridge.
It now also enjoys its highest student intake figures for the last 25 years.
The investment was kick-started by the school's new owner, The Priory Learning Trust.
Principal Dan Milford said: “It is an extraordinary amount of investment that we have seen and our campus looks stunning in so many ways.
“We had years of brilliant news with fabulous GCSE and A-level results, the expansion of our sixth form, and the site improvements and superb facilities.
“It is also wonderful to see student numbers growing with the biggest intake in at least 25 years. There is a buzz across the academy and rightly so.”
The King Alfred School Academy sixth form opened its doors on Thursday, September 29 from 6pm for students wishing to join its post-16 provision.
