VOLUNTEERS at Burnham-on-Sea RNLI gave a fond farewell to their former Senior Helm who retired from service after 26 years.
Nick Edrich has retired from service with the Lifeboats in Burnham and last night (November 18) duty Launch Authority Phil, Senior Helm Jason, and other volunteer crew members were in attendance to thank him.
Nick’s wife Faye was presented with his old crew helmet and a bunch of flowers in recognition of her support behind the scenes.
Like many of the crew, past and present, Nick came across in from the former Burnham Area Rescue Boat (now BARB Search & Rescue - Burnham-on-Sea hovercraft) in 2003 when the RNLI established a station here in Burnham, becoming a Helm shortly after moving across.
Present Senior Helm Jason Coombes said: “As our senior helm for the last 12+ years Nick has shown exceptional dedication and will be greatly missed by everyone at the station.
“A real pleasure to serve alongside you. Many thanks again, and wishing you and yours all the best for the future.”
