A GROUP of friends raised over £2000 for a prostate cancer charity by taking part in a golf challenge.
Matthew Tiley, along with his friends, joined the Big Golf Race and raised a total of £2400 for Prostate Cancer UK.
The team walked 15 miles while playing 36 holes of golf back-to-back, with no breaks, at the Burnham and Berrow Golf Course which also contributed to the fundraiser.
Prostate cancer is now the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK, killing one man every 45 minutes in the UK, the same time it takes to play three holes of golf.
That is why the team decided to golf the distance and take on The Big Golf Race, with the help of Burnham and Berrow Golf Course.
The group said: “Thanks for covering this, we raised a grand total of £2400 for prostate cancer, with a total of over a hundred donators.
“Burnham Golf Course have kindly said they will donate our green fees straight back to the charity.
“A massive thank you to Burnham and Berrow Golf Course who donated £400 to the pot and let us play for free, a stunning course and so accommodating.”
The names of the players who raised the vital funds are Matthew Tiley, Andrew Thomas, James Woodrow, Graham Hook, Anthony Date, Mark Threshers, Steve Johns, and Gary Bishop.
