PLANS have been submitted to bring four new tourist accommodation units to a Brean holiday park by extending the roof of an existing pub.
Ocean Bar, located at Ocean Holiday Park, could have its roof extended to allow it to house more tourists and bring additional customers to the pub.
The applicant says this would “support and diversify the type of tourism accommodation available in Brean” and “secure the long-term viability of the public house”.
The plans were registered on Sedgemoor District Council's planning portal on January 23.
The planning statement says: “Planning permission is sought to extend the existing mansard roof to provide four units of tourism accommodation within the roof space.
“The accommodation consists of two two-bedroom units and two one-bedroom units.
“The individual accommodation units all benefit from separate bathroom facilities and open-plan kitchen, dining, and living areas.
“The two rear units have balconies that are recessed into the roof and screen side walls restrict any direct overlooking of adjacent properties.”
It adds: “The owner has provided considerable investment to undertake a range of refurbishments and associated upgrades to enhance the appearance and services on offer at Ocean Bar, supporting the local tourism market and rural economy.”
Permission was recently granted for the erection of a single-storey extension to Ocean Bar's rear elevation for a dining area and covered seating area and internal alterations.
