A DERELICT building has been badly damaged in a fire.
Firefighters from eight stations were called to the incident in East Brent, which started shortly after 1pm yesterday (Monday, March 13).
On arrival, crews were greeted by smoke and flames issuing from the premises.
They then requested assistance from a further three fire appliances and two water carriers due to the size of the blaze. Firefighting increased to three main jets to tackle the blaze.
By 2pm, fire was breaking through the roof of the building and it was decided to increase main jets to four with one breathing apparatus wearer.
The majority of fire had been extinguished by around 3.30pm and firefighters were dampening down hot spots.
The attending fire stations were Crediton, Taunton On Call and Green Watch, Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Nether Stowey, Street, Wellington
Yeovil, and Cheddar.
