THE WEDMORE Friends of Weston Hospicecare held a charity event last week to raise funds for the hospice with the help of a fashion show.
A spokesperson for Wedmore Friends said: "Each year one of our events has been a Fashion Show (except during Covid) and this year the show was hosted by Kukkina of Cheddar.
"It was a very successful event and raised £2,165 which with £220 from a previous donation raised by Wedmore Friends the total of £2,385 was donated to the Hospice towards the cost of a scanner.
"It was a beautiful sunny day and the event was attended by 80 Ladies paying £10 per ticket.
"During the event a cream tea of scones, jam and cream was served and a raffle was held, various craft items were sold, succulent plants and wax melt candles were also sold.
"A Heads and Tails was held with each person paying £1 to play and the bar was open serving Prosecco and other drinks. Clothes were also sold at the event and a donation was given by Kukkina to the Friends."
"All in all this was a very successful event and we look forward to Kukkina hosting our next Fashion Show on Saturday April 13 2024."
A spokesperson for Weston Hospicecare said: "A massive well done and thank you to Shirley Wederell and to the Wedmore Friends of Weston Hospicecare and everyone involved in the Fashion Show held on April 1.
"Yet again you have raised an amazing amount of £2,165 from your Fashion Show.
Special thanks to all the sponsors.
"Because of this event, Weston Hospicecare will now be able to purchase the scanner
needed for our in-patient unit based at Jackson-Barstow House in Uphill.
The total final amount needed for the scanner was £2,385 and with a previous
donation of £220 from Wedmore Friends, this has been achieved.
Weston Hospicecare was founded by the community in 1989, Weston Hospicecare provides social, emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical care and support to people affected by life-limiting illnesses and to their loved ones.
