THERE was just one event beat the wet weather and was able to be completed at Brean in the past week and that was the February Seniors Medal last Tuesday morning.
Even then though the players still had to contend with a stiff breeze but that proved to be no defence for the course as Tony McCann superbly navigated his way around 18 holes.
He handed in a very impressive nett 62 to secure himself a comfortable 5 stroke winning margin in taking the top prize. Trailing in his wake was runner up Tony Richards on 67 with Chris Fairchild taking 3rd spot after his nett 68.
Last week, home Assistant Ali Balcombe secured his second triumph of the winter at his home course of Weston-super-Mare in the PGA Total Triumph Winter Series.
However, this time he did not have things all his own way as he had to share the top spot with Brickhampton Court’s Ross Langdon.
The duo both carded rounds of 65 which is 5 under par over the North Somerset links and were two clear of Oli Storrer (Gloucester Golf Centre) in third.
A rare windless day greeted those teeing it up in the second Total Triumph sponsored Winter Series visit to Weston this season.
The Pro’s enjoyed tackling the links venue which was in superb condition and took full advantage of the benign conditions to shoot some low numbers.
At the end of the day a level par return was only good enough for a tie for 8th such was the excellent scoring on display.
