A BY-ELECTION could again be on the cards for Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge as a town councillor has stepped down from his role.
Cllr James Warren, Liberal Democrat councillor of the Highbridge ward, resigned from his post on Friday, April 26.
He reportedly stepped down from the role due to personal reasons which he felt would stop him from giving the job the attention it deserves.
Cllr Warren's resignation leaves the Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council with 17 councillors, and one empty seat.

It is expected that the town council will announce plans to fill the vacancy imminently - although a by-election seems the most likely option.
A by-election was held to fill another role on the Highbridge ward in December 2023.
Conservative Cllr Alistair Hendry won the by-election by a minute margin - only two votes separated him (179) and Liberal Democrat candidate Laura Chalmers (177).
Labour candidate Kate Pearce followed closely behind with 149 votes, with an overall turnout of 10.71%.
