THE new landlords of an Axbridge hotel have raised £200 to help secure the future of September's Blackberry Carnival.
Landlords of The Oakhouse, Marina Czyzew and David Rogers, held an Easter Egg Hamper Draw with a huge basket of chocolate eggs as the main prize.
The money will help make the family-friendly carnival a reality, which has been known to feature walking entries, vintage tractors, classic cars and traditional decorated floats. This year's event is due to take place on Saturday, September 21, from 2pm.
Di Owen, from the Carnival Committee, said: "The carnival costs a minimum of £5,000 to stage due to the high cost of road closures and insurance amongst other costs.
"It is a lovely family-friendly event held in the afternoon at the same time as the fun fair making it one of the highlights of the year in the town.
"We stage fundraising events throughout the year to ensure it continues."
Marina added that they were delighted to be able to support the carnival.
