A NEW Mayor of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge has been elected by fellow councillors.
Former Deputy Mayor, Cllr Sharon Perry, was elected as Mayor of Burnham and Highbridge on Monday, May 13, replacing outgoing Mayor, Cllr Lesley Millard.
Cllr Perry will work alongside Cllr Roger Keen, who was elected as her Deputy Mayor.
Representing the Liberal Democrats on the town council, Cllr Perry has lived in Burnham-on-Sea for more than 30 years, and raised her family in the town.
The 60-year-old formerly worked as a primary school teacher in local schools after a career in human resources with the NHS.
Now retired, Cllr Perry has become committed to serving her community, and has worked as a town councillor in the Burnham Central ward since 2022.
"I will work with residents and other members of the council to improve our environment, maximise opportunities for all to participate in the community, and take steps to invigorate our local economy," she said.
