A Burnham resident will take part in this year's Walk for Parkinson's as a way to thank Parkinson's UK for supporting her father.

Lucia Goodwin, 34, from Burnham on Sea, is participating in the fundraising walk organised by Parkinson's UK at Blaise Castle, Bristol on June 15.

Motivated by her father, Roger, who has received substantial help from Parkinson’s UK, she wishes to give back to the Parkinson’s community.

The event allows walkers to pick either a short one-mile or a longer six-mile route around the grounds of the eighteenth-century castle.

Ms Goodwin is encouraging others to join the fundraiser and support the crucial research conducted by Parkinson’s UK.

She said: "The distance seemed ideal not only for him, but also for the kids too, making it a real family event.

"The children are really on board with walking with Grandpa and supporting him together.

"Personally I’m most looking forward to spending time with my dad and family at the event."

Unlike previous years, this year's Walk for Parkinson’s event is being sponsored by Charco Neurotech.

Participants can contribute by registering with a fee of £12, and are recommended to aim for a £50 sponsorship.
