BURNHAM-ON-SEA fire crews were called to the scene of an incident near Lower Weare in Somerset yesterday (Sunday, June 16).

Cheddar Fire Station crew members also attended following a report of a vehicle which had crashed into a hedge.

Fire crews rescued four people from the crashed vehicle, before handing them over to on-scene South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWAST) crews.

Avon and Somerset Police were also called to the scene at around 7:40pm on Sunday evening.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two fire crews were sent to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision near Lower Weare in Somerset.

"On arrival crews confirmed this vehicle had left the highway and gone into hedge.

"Four casualties were pulled from the vehicles and attended to by the ambulance crews on scene.

"Police were also in attendance."
