CANDIDATES set to stand in the Highbridge by-election have been announced by Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council.
Laura Chalmers will stand for the Liberal Democrats, against Martin George on behalf of the Conservatives, and and Kate Pearce for the Labour Party.
The poll to vote for a new town councillor to take over a vacant spot on the Highbridge ward will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2024.
The by-election was triggered by the resignation of Cllr James Warren earlier this year.
The former Liberal Democrat councillor of the Highbridge ward reportedly stepped down from the role due to personal reasons which he felt would stop him from giving the job the attention it deserves.
A by-election was held to fill another role on the Highbridge ward in December 2023.
Conservative Cllr Alistair Hendry won the by-election by a minute margin - only two votes separated him (179) and Liberal Democrat candidate Laura Chalmers (177).
