BURNHAM-ON-SEA residents have been warned of a convincing scam which has been affecting visitors to the seafront.
The scam involves using stickers featuring QR codes to trick people into handing over their bank details.
Sedgemoor Neighbourhood Policing, part of Avon and Somerset Police, have urged car park users in the area to 'be aware', as these stickers were found on parking meters at Pier Street Car Park.
A spokesperson said: "Please be aware of stickers that are placed on the ticket machines, at Pier Street car park in Burnham-on-sea.
"They are part of a scam where you are asked to scan a QR code and pay money to a fake company."
The car park is accessed via the Esplanade, and is one of the most frequently used in the town by locals and tourists visiting the seafront.
