A HIGHBRIDGE man has been banned from driving for nearly two years after he was caught behind the wheel while over double the legal drink-drive limit.

Jason Cook, of Quays Drive, committed the offence in a black BMW on Fullens Close in Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday, May 21.

A breath test gave a reading of 72 micrograms of alcohol per litre of his breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms per litre of breath.

Cook, 32, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, July 16 at North Somerset Magistrates' Court in Worle.

He was banned from driving for 20 months, but that could be reduced by 152 days if he completes a drink-drive rehabilitation course by August 13, 2025.

He was also fined £200 and told to pay £85 in court costs and an £80 surcharge to fund victim services.

Cook's £365 court bill must be paid by August 13. His guilty plea was taken into account when he was sentenced.
