HR experts at a food manufacturer in Highbridge showed school students how to sharpen their interview skills.
Emma Dury and Claire Byrne from Bakkavor Desserts offered 12 students at The King Alfred School interview techniques.
Ms Dury, HR business partner at Bakkavor Desserts, said: "I interview all the time with my role at Bakkavor and it becomes second nature in the business world to master the art of interviewing well and making a good first impression.
"I gave the students some tips along the way.
"For example, it isn’t always a weakness to talk about mistakes - so long as you can show how you have learnt from them.
"I enjoyed my time at The King Alfred School, it’s the fourth year that Bakkavor has supported the mock interview programme, and I hope we see one of two of the students working with us at Bakkavor in years to come.”
Bakkavor Desserts recently provided a work experience week across its sites in Highbridge and Devizes.
The initiative aimed to highlight the range of careers available in the food manufacturing industry, from engineering, finance, food technology, hygiene and supply chain management.
Jinny Dudbridge, senior HR business partner at Bakkavor Desserts, said: “We actively encourage school participation with us across our two sites.
"We offer an award-winning Apprenticeship Programme and also a Graduate Programme and we’re always delighted when young people in the local community consider a career with us.
"There are so many different skills required to run a food manufacturing business and, with this, comes a rich wealth of opportunity for young people.”
