RESIDENTS have expressed their sadness towards the closure of a popular pub which some have hailed the best in Burnham-on-Sea.
The Old Pier Tavern, which reopened just over a year ago in July 2023, will once again be forced to close its doors permanently.
Landlord Tim Pitman explained that the decision to close was made due to a number of reasons that 'don't really matter now'.
"All I can say is I did my very best to keep the doors open," he said.
"It's been an amazing experience for me and we have had some amazing nights of live music.
"I want to thank all the people supported the pub.
"The important thing to me is I have made new friends.
"I wish you all best and I hope The Pier will remain a pub. See you all soon."
Several empathetic locals have taken to social media to wish Tim well and express their gratitude for his time operating the venue.
One Facebook user said: "This was the best pub in Burnham giving all different types of music. Such a shame but I wish you all the best."
Another said: "Burnham has lost a great venue and a great landlord. Good luck in your future endeavours, and try not to let it get you down, you gave it a bloody good shot."
A third added: "Gutted for you, I saw the work you and the team put in to make it work."
